Bang & Olufsen A8 Earphones

... They don't work properly with iPhone. The plug is slightly thicker than the iPhone's earphones housing.

Too bad since the stock earphones are not very good for music and I love my A8's...

What are you guys using for music?
 
If you would use the search function of these forums, you would see that Apple has chosen to use a recessed headphone jack.......there are some adapters on the market, such as the one from Belkin which is out now, and a Griffin one that is coming out soon

It will work with one of those adapters that is specifically made for the iphone

Hey i have some Bang Olufsen headphones too, and if you take the plug part and get a swiss army knife or something, you'll be able to slice a little tiny ring off the part right above the plug part...and it is safe to cut through since under the rubber, there is hard plastic... i love being able to use them now...

I just pulled the rubber back and it works good without cutting. Thanks for the idea though. I had thought about cutting but I was a little skeptical to cut 150 bucks earphones

HAHA me too, i absolutely love these...my ears and the apple headphones are not a good combination
 
Just buy the adapter

Its $10 at the apple store. I own these and bought the adapter and they work great. No issues. ANY phones will work with the adapter and you will not have to hack up your earphones. My apple store had a TON in stock.
 
Or you can make your own adapter like I did. Simply buy a cheap 3.5mm to 3.5mm Stereo headphone adapter and in the case of the one I bought, shave off some rubber around the jack to allow it to fit. This saves you from cutting/modding your expensive headphones/earphones. Total cost only $4

Just DIY

I love my B&O earphones too! I've had them for about 5 years now... I got them at the B&O store in Sao Paulo, Brazil... and I have managed to make them fit in my iphone...

Here's the deal... if you noticed, your A8 has a plug that is just a hair bigger than the receded iPhone headphone jack. However, the A8's plug is basically coated with a rubbery layer that you can just peal back like a banana peal. You will only have to peal it back (don't try to pull is back because it may damage your plug, just peal it back like a banana peal) like 1/8 in or something like that.

If you liked it and you know you'll keep using it, then just get an exacto knife and cut that exact mark. I will post some pictures of mine later... I didn't know I have fellow B&O earphone users that liked them so much.

Another thing you can do, and this I have posted online already... is to make your own adapter.

won't be cutting my shure e500's

tried the belkin adapter and then tried the monster adapter, sticking with the monster one. Got a pair of shure e4'c and e500's and won't be soldering or cutting these. Shure's got an adapter coming out soon so i'll look for those.

You can, the earset 1. You'll have to butcher it and wire it up yourself though, as the earset 1 only has one channel. It could be done though. You'd need to find out how the plug on the iPhone is wired.
