I heard somewhere that Apple is releasing a new, cheaper iPhone soon, and that's why the 4 gb version has been discontinued. Is there any truth to this? What features would be cut out? I looked on this site and couldn't find anything, granted there is so much stuff here I easily could have overlooked it! Any info would be appreciated. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on a $349 refurb...

Since the iPhone came out in January, there have been unsubstantiated rumors of an "iPhone Nano," but there really isn't any evidence to support this.

Really don't see a cheaper iPhone coming. Doesn't fit into the the iPod/iPhone lineup. There is a nice spot for the 16gb version though.

I think Apple would have to pre-announce a new phone to avoid the uncontrolled info release through the FCC. Unless the new phone (if it exists) has no changes to the parts the FCC cares about.

So that would tell me there is nothing coming soon.
