I've noticed recently that many podcasts (especially CNN) are failing to download here in mainland China. I don't believe it's the connection speed, as some podcasts download very well (NPR for instance). But most come up with an err= -3253 message. I've also experienced this at our office, where we use a Hong Kong ISP to speed up overseas downloads.

Any ideas? Is big brother watching?

I think so. I've heard of some funky stuff going on in China... though I'm not sure why they'd ban CNN and not NPR. I wonder what their band decisions are based on...?
