I've been having lots of problems with Bluetooth lately. It would randomly go out and the icon at the menu bar would say "Bluetooth: Not Available" and I won't have the option to turn it off or on. I use it for my Mighty Mouse and Apple Keyboard and they both have good batteries.

I had the exact same problem. All of a sudden my bluetooth keyboard and mouse could not be seen by my Mac Mini and the Bluetooth module was off.

I ended up rebooting the machine and rebooting my router. I also moved away a cordless cell phone and put my iphone as far away as possible.

Now it's back up but I don't know what happened in the first place!

I just had the same problem.

Status just changed to "not available" all of a sudden.

I had to reboot to get it to come back. My BT was already off to begin with.

Something else which might/not be related are things plugged into my USB and/or FW ports that cause my machine to freeze up. I can only get the machine to restart by holding the power button down until it shuts off. If I don't pull the devices (external FW HD, and a USB drive and mouse) out, my machine won't boot back up. It will freeze at the white screen and the gray apple logo never appears. I have to force shut it down again, pull anything in the USB and FW ports and turn it back on for it to boot up.

I have done a verify and repair as well as a permissions repair to no avail. This has happened a few times now. Seems either the drivers are corrupt or something else screws with it every now and then. Whatever it is might be messing with the bluetooth now.

I had that problem with my blue tooth mighty mouse.

Funny thing was the mouse movements were recognized, but not the clicks.

I thought I had frozen my MacBook. I ended up re-installing the OS.

Apple Wath Is Going On!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have the bluetooth not available problem all ready
for some time. The point is that bluetooth comes back
randomly, so that is why there are so many "fix solutions"
found on many, many web pages....
I THINK THERE IS REALY ONLY ONE AND THAT IS
THAT APPLE SPEAKS UP AND GET US OUT OF THE
COULD BY FIXING THIS UGLY THING, BECAUSE
THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE!!!
By the way my DVD driver is also not working
spitting out disks right away (Macbook 1.83 2 Core 2 DUO)
APPLE WATH IS GOING ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you guys tried going to System prefs-->network and deleting the Bluetooth tab, then adding it again? That's what I did and it now works flawlessly.

"System prefs-->network and deleting the Bluetooth tab"
Thanks,
I´ll try that out, but for the moment I have an other
problem there, "Your network settings have been
changed by another application" dialog pops up
and I can not get rid of it (tapping ok and it comes back again)!
Anyway something is horrible wrong with the
bluetooth device (and I do not know still if it is a hard/soft ware
problem)!
Apple should speak up
I all ready sent a note to CNN
and more people should do that!

MAC MINI says BLUETOOTH NOT AVAILABLE. Does anyone REALLY have a fix for this? I called SOS-APPLE and updated all software. Still the same problem BLUETOOTH NOT AVAILABLE!!

BLUETOOTH does NOT appear in the SYSTEM PREFERENCE window - supposed to be between NETWORKS and the SHARED folder.
I accessed bluetooth settings via the NETWORKS icon.
In there is a BLUETOOTH PAN window that says CABLE UNPLUGGED is the problem (or receiving device not responding).

Of COURSE, I never unplugged ANY CABLE!!

I DID upgrade to Snow Leopard though.
SUCCESSFULLY too!

MAC MINI (166 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2G 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM) running OSX 10.6.2

All SOFTWARE UPDATES COMPLETED!

Does anyone REALLY know wassup w/this???

pre - thanx 2 whomever...

This past weekend this started happening with my MacBookPro. Everything was flawless for months, and then the Bluetooth disappeared. I can't seem to get it back without rebooting, it is very annoying. :(

I am using a bluetooth logitech mouse.
