AIM.ipa is working fine for me. Everything is where it should be and I'm able to send/receive IMs.
That's odd. All of my data/content synced and my visual voicemail is where it should be. You might need to re-enter your voicemail password.
I wonder what is going through the minds at Apple as they watch and see all these people using 2.0 without their official release.....
With that out of the way... IF the official version is a different build will iTMS recognize a lower build of the same version and ask if the user wants to "update" to the higher build? Or will we have to do a manual update again?
Safari automatically unzips it without me doing anything. I couldn't re-zip it and re-name. I'm re-downloading it through Firefox. It looks like it will work, but the download is much slower now (150KB/sec)
I apologize if this has been discussed (as it likely has), but I don't want to read all 40+ pages of this thread.
I tried to install the update and got an error:
The iPhone "iPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (0xE8000004).
Can someone help me with this? I'd love to start using 2.0!
edit: Now I am getting a different unknown error (5) that makes me restore every time.

Either:
1) mmmmmmmmmm beta testers
or
2) kill the intern who put it up
I believe you are having this issue because you are trying to upgrade from an iTunes version other than 7.7. Download 7.7 and try again.
TEG
I removed the iPhone from the dock after 4+ hours of the same thing (no progress being shown on the Updating iPhone Software screen) and force quit iTunes. The iPhone had shifted to showing the usb cable connection with the iTunes icon above it and still showed that when I removed it from the cradle. I pressed and held the power and home button until the iPhone restarted. The screen still showed the same image.
I placed the iPhone back into the cradle and it indicated it was found, iTunes launched and attempted to connect to iTunes. Then the error message "the ipod update server could not be contacted". So I removed the iPhone from the cradle again and quit iTunes.
This time, I double clicked the file I had downloaded and iTunes launched and indicated that there was a problem with the iPhone software and prompted me to click restore. I have done that and am about 20 minutes into the restore process. I saw several intial screen where it was preparing the iPhone. Now it is on the Restoring iPhone software screen and I am once again waiting patiently (at least for an hour). After that I truly may panic. Especially since no on here seems to be suggesting anything at this point. Sucks... truly sucks. I can't believe I decided to try this before the "official release" tomorrow. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!!!
I'm doing something particularly silly... I'm downloading it, but I'm too cautious to install it. Even though I really want it.
I am actually using 7.7. I downloaded it this morning, though I did get an odd error message during the install (sometime after it told me to close iTunes, which had been running). When I opened it back up, though, it all seemed to be in working order, with the Applications library in the left-hand menu, and About iTunes saying it is version 7.7 (43).
I downloaded the software update in Safari. It didn't unzip (strangely), and I changed the extension from .ipsw.zip to .ipsw. I held down the option key when I pressed "Check for Update," it extracted the software, prepared the phone for the update, and then erred out.
Any ideas?
spoke to soon, am now in 2.0, hoorah..
does anyone know of any way i could get back into 1.1.4 from 2.0?????
