I was originally one of the ones awhile back that thought this might not be that great of a game since it's not the full Spore game, but I gotta say, I'm really having fun with Spore Origins! Downloaded and played non-stop until I finally kept dying on level 15 (the exit level to leave "Murky Waters".)

I think the replay value will be there because it makes you want to try out different creatures and evolve them in different ways. Here is my first creature that I have evolved so far:

Sigh... I'm totally buying this as soon as I get home.

But, other question. Spore: Origins doesn't have any networking functionality, does it? I thought at one point EA said it would. Did they ever clarify what they're doing with that?

If gaming on the iPhone takes off (now that there is a small mass of more "serious" / substantial game products), it would really help if Apple created a standard like the game console makers have for network play so that you could have a standard friend ID or whatever (maybe just your iTunes registered e-mail account) and use it to locate friends on the internet for all iPhone games.

Loading it on my phone now...

This is the part where I hope that my phone doesn't lockup or go to the ALOD while doing this. *fingers crossed*

I've put an hour into Spore Origins and it's hard to put down. I am on level 8 and the accelerometer has impressed so far. I could only tell you after game completion if it was worth $9.99. It's better than Chopper at $7.99 anyway.

No networked play from what I've seen so far, but man that would be very cool... seeing if your little evolved creature is faster and deadlier than your friend's!

That's what I was afraid of as well; I've been having a lot of problems with my iPhone lately (can't update any apps directly; it tells me to connect to my computer which unfortunately I can't do since my user account has become corrupted and I can't login!) But it downloaded and installed smoothly. I am loving this game!

Alright d/l and installed. Took a bit to install but not too bad. I played a bit then synced it to copy over the screen pics. Because of the file size your backups are going to take a bit. Plays well on the first two levels and damn it looks good. Anyway here is some pics.

Is anyone's screen dimming??? Is there a setting that I am missing or what? I'm to level 5 but screen keeps wanting to shut off while in game.

Thanks for answer in advance

Well, it's cause you're not tapping the screen, right? Most other games require you to tap the screen, but not Spore...at least during the level.

Ok, I understand that, that is why I was asking if there was a setting that I was missing. The first 5 levels have not required me to tap on the screen, it swims using the accelerometer...so, again, is there a setting or something I am missing that will keep the screen active while swimming the critter during the next levels?

Settings -> General -> Auto-Lock - Never

Will stop the screen from dimming or turning off due to lack of input.

This looks pretty good! May have to hop onto the Spore bandwagon.

Really really really tempted to buy this now. I think I'll just pay a bit more for the full version .

LOL...very funny!!! I am really sure that everyone is going to go into settings and change it back and forth every time they play Spore.

Again, not the correct answer and obviously there is a bug already as it should do one of two things...have an option to change it or program it to not shut off/dim...IN THE GAME SETTINGS.

Oh well, so much for that, guess I'll just have to remember to touch the screen every now and then.

Love the Graphics though!!!

So far, I have my iPhone in the shortest timeout for lock possible, and it doesn't time out before I would need to touch the screen in Spore, e.g. in between levels.... I dunno, though.

I love it so far.

I just played spore for about 2 hours, and got to level 25 or so. It's kind of amusing, although I don't know how much replay value I'd expect from it. I wish there were more upgrade options - the 3 upgrades available for weapons / shields / perception / movement aren't really that exciting.

I am in want of a game to occupy some of my time, and was considering Spore for the Mac, but I just meet the requirements (X3100 integrated on macbook) and am not sure how well it will run (choppy? get the fans running loud?), so I'm curious to hear how this compares. I have an iPod touch I could run it on....
I'm getting the Mac version of Spore. I haven't tried the iPhone version but it looks like a very light version of the full computer game. Here's a comprehensive review:

Check out a part of EA's description...

They are really trying hard to promote Tetris. Haha "hey John Mayer here...just liked to say thanks for killing off Tris."

Seriously, here.

Check out other top selling iPhone games from EA Mobile like Tetris. Also try our great iPod titles, Tetris.

Wow...just wow.
