Did anyone read the new terms and conditions???

When you're outside of the US (even temporarily) you cannot buy from the iTunes store anymore. Are they nuts?

So that means if you're on vacation you cannot shop in the iTunes Store anymore?

Apple has lost it.

The terms & conditions say that you're not allowed to anymore and that they may take measures to enforce it. So while you still may be able to buy it from the UK you're already breaking the license agreement, which means they could shut down your entire account at will.

iTunes playback bug

Hi,

Sorry if this has been posted and I've missed it but I've come across a really weird playback bug.

Basically my iTunes will no longer play songs sequentially. By which I mean that no matter what view I'm using in iTunes, if I set a song playing and this song finishes- it will not play the next song in the album. Sometimes it just stops dead like the album has finished- other times it jumps randomly to another album (where sometimes it will play those songs in order). No I don't have shuffle turned on. Yes I am pretty pissed about this.

I've been a full time mac user for nine months now and this is the first time apple have really disappointed me (I've not bought an iPhone yet!)- how do I downgrade to the previous version of iTunes until this buggy piece of crap is fixed?

Where are these terms I didn't read them so I might as well now seeing as this has come up.

So this has been out for how many hours and not one person has looked to see if they added/changed anything with Smart Playlists? Enquiring minds want to know.

This did not require a press conference. Apple is getting a little beside itself. How much money was spent for this?

i don't think much money was spend on apple's side of things. they just rent the space and "events" like this are second hat that htey have year round full time staff for to put it all together. only real cost would be the space and materials, pocket change for a multi billion dollar company. the cost would be associated with the poor media suckers who thought this was going to be something big, worth flying in from NY or chicago, only to hear about an itunes and ipod lineup upgrade. *yawn* i get tired just thinking about it

yikes, sorry, man. first lesson of apple ownership (really, any computer ownership) is not to download the latest and greatest first until there has been some vetting in the real world by real users. in your case, you are vetting it for me and i see you are having issues so i'm less likely right now to download it right away. i'm sure plenty of people are using it without problems, but i'm a bit more cautious with software downloads.

i'm not sure how you can downgrade to 7.7, i'm sure someone out there has an answer.

I am pretty pissed that apple has basically dumped the ability to shuffle in the new grid view-I was kinda hoping to be able to do so and while there is a sort of workaround that I found(start the shuffle in either cover flow or list view) I am kinda upset

Heck yah...

I thought my library was pretty well organised but these new views are showing up all kinds of wrong.:D

Like in the last update the order changed! My '10,000 Maniacs' which used to be on top is now at the bottom!

I also have a few other groups whose name starts with numbers and I had to look for them too at the bottom. Any fix/hack for that?

I thought iTunes lunched on the tracks until I reloaded them and still couldn't find them. Dang, it's bad enough keeping up but when they change the rules and don't let people know, or let them have a 'Go back to the way it was' button, that's bad...

How do I disable sorting within albums? I don't want my albums split apart by artist. I want them to play in the order they came in.

Keep clicking "Album" along the top to change the sorting order. It should cycle through various options, including the option I believe you're looking for.

Clicking "Album" isn't doing anything for me.

hmm....it seems to me Genious only works with songs available from Itunes, and that seems to include the playlists it creates. So basically it's a sophisticated quick-buy thing...

I just hope itunes is not on the track of becoming serious bloatware.

Even the first version of iTunes was considered 'bloaty' at the time - especially compared with offerings such as WinAmp2.

So I simply bought a faster computer. It just makes sense. ;)

I've had this happen with iTunes 7 as well. Try clicking the playback option button located in the group of buttons at the lower left of iTunes. Try setting the playback loop to play back the song once, then continuous playback, and then none. (grey) If this does not work, try trashing your iTunes preferences in user preferences. Hope this works for you.

I've look everywhere but can't find it again, Oh well.

You can always trash iTunes 8, re-download, and reinstall to read the fine print of the software acceptance clauses. Take a screen shot for future reference.

wow!!!!!!!

Just remember Apple does not hype any of this. All the speculation about what is coming out is done by other people, NOT APPLE. these websites speculate what MIGHT be coming out and it seems to get people all excited and giddy. Then when apple releases their products and software, and it isnt what people expect. They get mad and come on here and complain about it.

There are some legitimate complaints about certain products, and that is ok. But to complain about a press event, give me a break.

This was supposed to be a big deal event? Seriously, they could've just done a press release. "Let's Disappoint"

At around 35 minutes into the keynote, Jobs says "We've got a treat for you today"

What? New Mac Pros? MBs? MBPs? ACDs? Minis? No wait, this is a music event. But....?

...er, it's Phil Schiller playing games on his iPod Touch! :D

Just about sums up how underwhelming this keynote was.

Question

Does anyone on this forum even know what a Smart Playlist is?

I know there is a 95% chance they did not improve this functionality at all....
but I can't believe none of the iTunes 8 users have mentioned anything yet.
