Fix ID3 tags/mp3 song information automatically

Hello guys,

I just started looking at software to automatically correct/add information to my itunes music library because I do have quite a few songs which have missing information. I would like to add album covers to the songs as well.

What would be the best program to do this?

So far I have come across FixTunes, MP3 Freaker and Media Rage
Julian.

Don't know about "automatic", but iEatBrainz [Version Tracker link] is what I'm using to fill in missing tags. The app is free and does allow you to choose from several different matches (if availible).

I have tried quite a few programs on the Mac side. I haven't found anything the I like. I ended up installing vmware and running tag & rename on it. I am sure others will chim in, but for ease of use, batch writing, 3v1 and 3v2 converting of tags and writing to each tag, adding ablum art to each song, not just the folder, this program hands down is the best I have used. Not to mention able to search amazon.com and some other databases for pulling tag info and album art automatically.

The program is not free but if you have a lot of files like I do, it is a god send. So far nothing on the Mac side has come close for me.

Just out of interest, I know it’s a very variable answer, but how long does Tag & Rename take to process and find the ID3 tags.
I used it years ago and seem to remember it being a very slow process.

RSD..

The newest version that I am using is super quick. I mean really quick. The only time it lags, is if I do it over the network, IE if I want to edit some of the files that are on my server there is a little time, mainly depends on the how many I am updating etc. But if I am doing it locally, it is super quick.

I created mapped drives on my vm partition so I can move files back and forth really easy. If I need to edit a lot of files, which I haven't needed to do in a while. I mainly use this now for sending the files to the server after I am done processing them. IE EAC>>Tag & Rename>>mp3gain>>send to appropriate folder on server>>done.

I have no complaints with tag & rename.

I've been using Jaikoz and absolutely love it. The developer is very responsive and even hosts a forum in which he is extremely active. Have a feature suggestion for Jaikoz? Just post it and it could be in the next version!

Pros:
-It handles my 46GB library with no sweat.
-It uses Acoustic IDs to identify songs with NO metadata at all. I've had around a 90% percent accuracy rate with this.
-It uses the Musicbrainz database to correct tags which IMHO is one of the most thorough music databases around.
-The amount of fine tuning and control you have over the program is near mind boggling (can be good and bad)
-Plays nice w/ iTunes most of the time
-Free upgrades always
-Finds lyrics, if that's your thing

Cons:
-The software is java-based which bothers some people
-The program definitely has a learning curve, it's not a one click fix. This can be frustrating, but once you get over the hump it's all gravy and you're happy that program offers a million ways to fine tune your tagging.
-It's not free. But hey, most good things aren't. Support a good developer!
-The UI is nothing to write home about.
-Wouldn't recommend for finding missing artwork, most is low quality or very small.

I'm in no way associated w/ the developer, I'm just thrilled that the program exists.
