Any Benchmarks For The 9400m Yet?
Some people are getting their macbooks already and I was wondering if anyone has benchmarked the 9400m yet

Anandtech.com reviewed the new Nvidia chipset today with some Windows games. They compare it against other IGPs as well

PC Mag's got some benchmarks up:
http://www.pcmag.com/image_popup/0,1...=219447,00.asp 13.2 fps on crysis 2,344 3DMark06 at 1024 x 768 Take these with a slight grain of salt however as they were run under Vista rather than Leopard. |

That seems ridiculously high! I have on file that my dedicated Geforce Go 7800 reached only 2386 on 3dmark 06 in its day on 1400x900 resolution, and that had been a very descent video card that could play whatever I throw at it (Oblivion, FEAR... that was 2006).
I'll need some additional sources before I can accept this. If its true, then it is indeed awesome. Last edited by nemein : Oct 15, 2008 at 06:32 PM. Reason: typo |

I'm surprised at the results, by the way is the 8400M GS integrated or discrete?

Additional benchmark shows 9400M churned out 2000 in 3dmark 06. This new macbook is looking interesting!

Things start to look interresting indeed. Could anyone from these forums run a 3dMark06 benchmark on their new MB, so we can get some solid proof

My 2.2GHz MacBook with the updated Intel graphics scored 295 in 3DMark06. This is a HUGE step forward.
My 17" iMac which had a 1.83GHz Core Duo and X1600 scored 1205. This new MacBook is looking like a very capable gaming system and is likely therefore going to become my only computer. I think I'll be selling my aluminium iMac to get one of the updated cinema displays for this or just get myself a nice high resolution display from somewhere else. |

I currently only use my MBP for light gaming such as EVE Online, The Sims 2, and Spore... if I sell it to make a few bucks and buy a 2.4GHz MacBook... I take it all of those games will run fine then?

Gizmodo posted their review up, with videos of Spore running on both the macbook and macbook pro with the settings maxed at full-resolution. Looks like the macbook is a bit choppier, maybe the graphics aren't as great as we'd hoped.

Yeah, at maxed-out textures and full resolution, it'd probably run into some problems, especially near big cities. That said, my Dell with Intel 950 GMA and 1.8 ghz Core Duo (old) processor runs Spore fine with very little lag on low settings. I really don't think you'd have a bad experience with the new MB playing that game....
Still hunting for more 3dmark benchmarks, owners please post yours here if you have them!

Macworld did their testing, here are the results:
2.4 Macbook 39.4 fps in Quake 4 2.0 Macbook 38.7 fps in Quake 4 Oh, and the current white macbook was only able to handle 7.6 fps, so this is a big jump over the plastic macbooks. http://www.macworld.com/article/1362...?lsrc=rss_main |

Great series of gaming test which I think should be added here. I'm impressed!
