Mail.app: where is my message split window?

no longer split into inbox/message view on the right. I've gone through every option possible but i cannot get it back.

the left column contains the email inbox/outbox/etc...
the the large section of the screen should be split into two sections, the email folder at the top, and the actual email below it.

but I somehow deleted the message window split.


I always seem to do something wrong to my mac, and cannot undo it. things arn't as simple as they seem

that dot was so small... but got it now, thanks alot.
