hmmmm iTunes 8.2 killed iPhoto syncing for me. all my photos on iPhone disappeared right after syncing, and deleting and re-syncing doesn't work either.

Interesting stuff in the "Localizable.strings" file:

Nike+iPhone confirmed?
"4320.632" = "Do you want to automatically send your workout data to nikeplus.com when you sync your iPhone? ";
"4320.636" = "A new Nike + iPod voice kit is available for the iPhone “^1”. Would you like to download it now?";
"4320.637" = "A new Nike + iPod voice kit is available for the iPhone “^1”. Would you like to download and install it now?";
"4320.638" = "A new Nike + iPod voice kit is available for the iPhone “^1”. Would you like to install it now?";
"4320.639" = "Your workout data has been sent to nikeplus.com. You may disconnect your iPhone now.";
"4320.640" = "There is no workout data to send to nikeplus.com on this iPhone. You may disconnect your iPhone now.";
"4320.641" = "Your workout data cannot be sent to nikeplus.com because you have not previously linked this iPhone with your Nike account. You may disconnect your iPhone now.";

VoiceOver?

"4320.600" = "The iPhone “^1” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the spoken menus for the contents on it.";

"4320.643" = "VoiceOver changes the gestures used to control iPhone. Are you sure you want to continue?";

I really really really hope that this year's WWDC isn't 99% iPhone, 1% "lol oh yeah we still sell macs lol". Also hoping for UPDATED 30" CINEMA DISPLAYS...those things haven't been touched in ages. The 30" ACD is the new Mac mini. :eek: :(

This is new...at least mine never said "Eject before disconnecting" before this update.

It seems like Apple has been putting in more protections against "modified" versions of iPhone software. Can anyone confirm that this works w/ jailbroken & unlocked iPhones?

It works with my jailbroken phone, although when I plugged it in, iTunes said it could not access my phone and I had to enter the password on my phone, once I did that, it synced up fine. (I dont remember that ever happening before??)

EDIT: I disconnected and tried again, this time it didn't ask, just worked ??

...with either the new phones going first (likely) or the 3.0 software being rolled out to existing users first (less likely for PR reasons).

Well, maybe but it seems like 3.0 will have to be made available to those buying a new phone in order to do restores and so forth... but those new phones won't need to download the software so there's no benefit to making it only available to them on release day. The new phones will have little hit on the servers aside from activations. However, they WILL possibly have a lot of iTunes downloads from those users. I tend to think the software for all users will be made available simultaneously. Perhaps the iPod Touch users will have to wait a week to get their downloads, just to ease the server's load initially.

The hit last year was all the downloads of iTunes, plus the 2.0 upgrade, plus the activations. By putting 8.2 out a week early, everyone who has software update due to check weekly or more will have that make that much less of a hit on the servers.

With all the new phones, there will be a LOT of activations (re-activations) be sent on release day, that's for sure.

hummmm this is in the iPhone License agreement

"Apple would provide you with any iPhone OS software updates it might release up to and including the iPhone 3.x software release. Such updates and releases may not necessarily include all of the new software features that Apple releases for newer iPhone models."

I guess that means there will be a new iPhone for all those people that say no there wont

Is this the original or 3G? or Both?

Thx

I had to enter the passcode in no matter what I did. Once I entered it worked. Didn't want to connect if I didn't enter the passcode. Weird. But at least I got it to work.

Update time

How longdid it take you all to complete the update. Ive got the blue screen with the cog wheel going now for about 30 min. Should I be worried?

On the side, I hope the Quicktime update fixes my minor video glitches that I get on older quicktime files I have (where it randomly pixilates the upper 1/3 of the video). Have yet to figure that one out. :confused:

The itunes update server seems offline for updating the iphone softare/firmware at present here in Oz

Maybe we will see iphone 3.0 software soon

Ahh, i cant read this anymore....its making the wait for 3.o wayyy too hard :mad: (lol i can already picture apple servers crashing 5 minutes after it comes out, because of massive count of ppl downloading)

my MB took an abnormally long time to restart after completing the download of iTunes 8.2... My PC was normal, Vista had to restart after completing the installation. As others have said, this new version does something to your library upon initial launch as well.

Shot in the dark,, but I hope iTunes + iPhone can now sync together on more then just one computer! (Without hacking) Great for transferring docs etc! I know it is a pipe dream.. but we can dream right! :)
