been following this thread for a while and my main concerns where as follows

1) not to get ripped off ie Pay for goods not receive
2) on going support if need be
3) getting a decent price

all the other sellers including Ebay Electricstore wewantonenow etc etc just seem too dodgy - wewantonenow seems to have only been setup to sell the 3GS and then probably dissapear no reviews etc etc

also worringly they seem to operate from a residential street

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&s...77196,-1.266212&spn=0.000934,0.00284&t=h&z=19

No VAT number - or company number on their site

seems very dodgy stay away!

Same with Ebay - sellers can just dissapear and may sell you a generation 1 Iphones

Just too much hassle

I have now ordered from Handtec - as it seems at least people have received there goods , have good reviews been around for 7 odd years and specialise in Phones.

I have officially joined the crazy 3GS brigade :D

Edit: just realised that were in the same city - call on Monday probably arrange a pickup :)

I understand your concerns, and they are well founded. But I contest them all the same.

WeWantOneNow was set up as a sole-trader company by myself, a university graduate who just entered the job-market. The residential address is both home and business address and has been occupied by myself for the last 15 years - I don't think I'll be going anywhere anytime soon.

The company has not reached the VAT registration threshold yet.

And there is comeback if something goes wrong. For warranty issues (Belgium iPhones are covered for 2 years as opposed to the Italian 1 year) these will be handled for a nominal fee (cost to send the phone back to Belgium) - however, European law stipulates that Apple should have an EU wide warranty for goods sold in the EU - by not offering that for the iPhone they're technically breaking the law.

Furthermore, I do not accept orders if the phones are not in stock (this is because wholesale suppliers are not told when they will even receive stock, Apple just dumps it on them as and when they wish)! Unlike most other websites which do take orders without knowing when stock will arrive.

Everyone has to start somewhere, I've started with the iPhone 3Gs.

I hope this offers some reassurance to people.

Hi InterestedToo,

I can't manage transactions over the macrumors message board, but if you look at the website it shows that collection from Oxford is available.

Hope this helps.

good luck with your new venture

Personally wouldnt buy from Ebay etc or from one man 'new startups'.

Handtec seems the right choice for me - as they are an established business and reading from other forums have supplied quite a few people.

Previously I had brought from a company - they dissapeared off the scene couldn't even get a duplicate invoice for gaurantee purposes.

That was unfortunate, though I should point out that unless you go through Hantec or they provide a duplicate invoice, their invoice won't suffice for guarantee purposes either.

Hope you don't have too long a wait. The phones do seem to be coming through slowly...

In Australia apple sell them outright and unlocked in their apple stores or online. They are AU$879 for 16GB 3GS and about AU$1000 ish (can't remember the exact off the top of my head) for the 32 3GS.

People from the rest of the world pretty much have to pay import taxes though.

Do you take any premium over the normal € 699,00 they cost?

Yea I'd like to think i can get more than what I payed for since I spend alot of money to get them! If your interested in negotiating some price maybe we could organize some deal mate.

Oh by the way, RomeEst is like quite far away from Central Rome, I was in Via Venetoo and it took us close to an hour to get there in the taxi, alsoo stock isnt guareented I phoned up the day before and they told me they had stock available. I think that now they've sold out, so its better to check on the day or the day before u plan to go!

On a Mobistar waiting list and prices have risen?

Hi,

a friend of mine, who lives in Belgium, has got his name on a waiting list for me at a Mobistar shop in Brugge for a 3GS 32GB black and unlocked.

Interestingly:

1) He had to pay a deposit.

2) The iPhone will cost me €749 instead of the €675 on the website <http://iphone3g.mobistar.be/en/index.cfm>. Possibly because of buying it unlocked with no provider contract? An other possibility is that some Mobistar stores have decided to charge more than the "recommended sales price". My friend did not really get an answer as to why, but it was clear that he would not get the iPhone for €675.

3) A second Mobistar store in Brugge did not have any iPhones, no waiting list and was not accepting orders.

4) No idea how long the wait will be. I've (well my friend actually) been on the list for awhile now but no sign of the iPhone yet.

Cheers.

There is an extreme shortage in Belgium at present, especially black models, should you change your mind you will find it much easier to buy a white one. The wait could be long on the Mobistar list, though if you paid a deposit you have a better chance since people tend to prefer to have their name on a waiting list and not pay a deposit (most Mobistar stores do it this way rather than a paid deposit).

As for the price difference, it seems strange and your friend should definitely press the store for an answer. €675 is the price in all the Mobistar stores I visited before finding a solid supplier.

You can say that again... I can wait for the black iPhone, because there is no great rush on my part. I'll be in Brugge in early August, so I might be lucky. The important aspect for me is that it is unlocked while retaining full warranty.

We've been there and done that. My friend is most definitely not the type to accept any b******t. If he could not get a straight answer, then almost no one could. The Mobistar outlet in Brugge, the one which had a waiting list, basically said this is the price, take it or leave it.

I just want to confirm that the two iPhones I ordered (for my brother and his friend) from the italian store were delivered today to my friend address in Italy.
