would you feel comfortable shopping in a store where someone died? possibly standing on the exact spot their blood leeched into the floor?
 
To be honest, this is Apples fault for having such poor security.

1 unarmed guard? What the hell is he going to do! Beg them not to rob the store?

It's Apples stupid fault for:

1 - Poor physical security (1 unarmed guard)
2 - Big glass doors/windows that are not locked down at night
3 - Leaving everything out on display
4 - Not even using a kensington lock on the laptops

TBH, they deserved to get robbed again, if they cant be bothered to do a few simple things to prevent it happening, its their own fault.

That would probably risk the security guys life more than robbers.

So, by that logic, anyone not wearing a security vest deserves to be stabbed in the chest, and if the do it's their own fault?

Not at all,

I said again as in, they knew their security was lax, so to improve it they should have done more than make some guy in a uniform walk around the shop, pretending its secure.

The Truth – They did one big mistake

Yes. They made a mistake.

As professional they were, we know one thing for sure. They have been on camera – before! Yes.

Think about it. The physique: They must be teens from 15 to 21 years. They look like they have Xbox, due to their looks and style.

And they knew where and who should pick up the Macs and iPhones. That means, that they have been several times in the apple store before, studying the entire shop.

Example: John, see?! You concentrate on the iPhone shelf. Mike, you see the MacBook Air on the right? R-Jay, have you noticed that the iPod touch are still at the back end? etc.

Look closely the first seconds. Every teen knew which direction to take. They knew which guard is working. Apparentely, they didn't pick a long top sporty aggressive guard. It was a nice chubby, small easy guy, probably with a nice pack of orea's cookies in his right pocket, always ready for a bite.

It was all good planed. Looks like, they studied also good flicks to this genre. Like Oceans 12, Bourne ultimatum, etc. If Apple is smart, they study the entire tapes from the last 14 days, where teens are studying the shop way too remarkably.

I hope this gives a new dircetion of this threat. Think about it and sorry about my grammar, Gentlemen. I'm from old Europe.

If you know someone's out to stab you, and your plan to protect yourself consists of wearing a slightly thicker shirt, then yes, you deserve to get stabbed.

By no means was adding an unarmed security guard an appropriate response to a robbery. Now, if this was one of those dangerous loitering teenager situations, maybe.

They seem to have misunderstood the back to school offer. Hopefully it will become a back to prison offer soon!

I am pretty sure, they will be caught very soon. They're teens. The robbery was an A+. But the aftermath is the most exciting one. Who will make the first mistake? Apple has his guys watching suspecting acts on eBay or local sellings.

Maybe one will tell, becuase evrybody on school is talking about the world record breaking Apple robbery. And R-Jay is seeing chances to become a Big Time player here. On a party maybe, you never know. They're teens. Wait some days, and MacRumors will post, that they caught the gang.

Whether Apple and the police or the teens can't stick to some good "GoodFellaz"-rules. Remember when Robert DeNiro gets angry when when one his guys bought a fancy car or big time fur jacket for his wife? We must show our hard robbed earnings ;D

I would feel comfortable shopping in a store where someone died. I honestly don't see why that would prevent anyone from shopping in a store. As long as no one is pointing a gun at you and shooting you, why would it matter? Someone who broke the law, threatened that they had a gun, got shot and killed, a perfectly logical outcome, the store was just the unfortunate location of the event.
 
Gosh I hate these sensationalistic US commercial channel reporters! They are just short of congratulating the thieves on a skilful job "well done". Pathetic!

As for the TV channel, ratings must be down, or thats the only happening's going on in the area.

Or track them by the network MAC address (Not Mac as in Macintosh, Media Access Control address) Regardless of what systems is installed it is hard to fake that. Then find out what ISP owns the IP address they used them on, Contact the ISP and get the real world address of the subscriber then send in in the police. How do you think the greedy record companies find people that download music?

And to the person that commented that they should rob a Windows store, there is nothing worth steeling there.😉
 
Look, stores get robbed all the time. It's life.

But why weren't those computers locked down? I am 99% sure they are in NYC.

There will be many prints everywhere because it is a store and customers touch stuff.

OK, that has to be the most twisted view of life I've ever heard. Maybe in NYC but not in the rest of the world.

To all recent graduates of the Jack Bauer 24 Hour School of Security, take some time and learn about security before spouting off. You may get yourself into trouble and possibly hurt. There is a great deal of psychology in both shoplifting and loss prevention. Take a look at some security sites on the web and ask some questions. Leave the security to the professionals.

Woah, woah, woah. Are you telling me that in other parts of the world, stores do not get robbed? Don't you think that is a little naive? I mean, stores get robbed in 50 person towns, little towns, cities, metropolises, the US, Canada, UK, Iraq, China... Everywhere!!! That's why there is a market for insurance.

Kensington locks don't offer any security. One snip with a decent pair of cutters and they're gone... just take the locks off the units when you get back to your hideout. It's perfectly possible, and if they were efficient and practiced they would have only been slowed down by maybe 20-30 seconds to get the same haul with another team member dedicated to running around in front cutting the wires.

Damn that sucks! 🙁

I've been to the store before, it seemed nice. I bet they may be able to recover some of the machines. Maybe even with MobileMe or other software we don't know installed on it. Damn... ugh, stupid New Jersey... 🙄
 
Am I the only one who finds all the bloodlust in this thread highly distasteful..?

Give the security guy a taser, by all means, but shoot a guy dead for pinching a few computers..? 😱 Perspective, please...
