So not that we're all getting our shiny new 27 inch iMacs I thought it would be a good time to make a wallpaper thread with wallpapers that make the iMac shine :D

The idea is to post wallpapers not shots of you desktop, so that people can actually use the wallpaper. Also, please only wallpapers that are appropriately sized.

I'll start out with one ;) Also... if anyone happens to have the Star Trek wallpaper from the Apple site that'd be much appreciated :)

i was also looking for it

but couldn't find it

so it came to my mind that it is very likely a screen capture from the latest Star Trek movie

we clearly see Ex Astris Scientia

which is the orbital station building starfleet spaceship above Earth

Just FYI, you can go to Interfacelift.com to get hundreds of 2560x1600 wallpapers.
Ok, it's not in 2560x1440 but still good.

for years now i've been throwing images in a folder called Desktop Pics and my wallpaper changes every minute. there's now just over 6500 files in there
currently my biggest screen is 1920x1200 so many of the files are in that proportion - but as i'm thinking of getting a 27" imac next month, i'm going through the whole lot and making them work at 2560x1440 (by resizing or putting borders or merging several together).
it's taking frikken ages and doesn't work for all of them. but i'll come back and post the ones that seem to work well.

Search by resolution (2560x1440 is there) and search with tags. There is a worksafe option too. /thread Enjoy! :)

It makes me sad that it is so difficult to find such high res wallpaper. I'm not really a fan of interfacelift. I don't like 'scene-y' wallpapers. I prefer sci-fi ones and movie/game/tv ones.

I'm all about IFL. Honestly, though, I'll take anything but the usual girls & cars garbage.

Jeez! Some nice wallpapers... here's what I usually do:

- Go to Google images.
- On the left panel, use the "Exactly..." option where I can input my screen resolution.
- Hit the search. :D

The best part is we can refine the wallpapers by selecting different colors. :D
