It's things like this that floor me. Its easy to point to a 39 page internet forum and pass it off as a small percentage of users. But when people are getting 3 bad screens at the same time or 2nd, 3rd, and 4th replacements all with the same issue the idea that it is a small number of machines just does not hold water.
How can apple's representatives both on the phone with apple care and in the store have the nerve to suggest that this is not a common issue.
It's painfully obvious that it is a very common issue affecting *nearly all* imacs delivered recently.
Several rep's have told me that they "haven't heard of the issue" one told me "I've talked to lots of people who don't have the issue" which seems like particularly crafty wording. The in store guy gave me the same song and dance then i showed him two faulty machines (the only two that were free at the time) and he was still reluctant to admit it was a problem.
What is wrong with these people? I know the company still hasn't officially acknowledged the issue (wtf) and they have to toe the company line but it starts to get really insulting to our intelligence at a certain point and at other points amounts to nothing more than lies.
One rep told me that less than 1% of all imacs suffer from this problem. I have to call bs. Perhaps less than 1% of imac users are bothered by it, or notice it, or can be bothered to do the whole replacement game, or perhaps this percentage includes the number of people who haven't yet received their imacs (poor buggers) but that number just simply does not line up with the fact that I'm on my 2nd replacement and others are on their 3rd or 4th.
Anyway just fed up and needed to rant... Still deciding whether to play the replacement game or if i should give up completely, get a refund, and wait for them to start producing screens that work.
