So wider, but no more vertical resolution than a TB monitor. Not sure why I'd want one

Because it's wider than a TB monitor?

This is great for someone who doesn't have a desk that supports dual 27" screens but wants more resolution than a pair of 24" displays. I guess the key here, is will this work at 60Hz without MST over DP.

Nice find! I was actually gonna pull the trigger on the 29" LG next month! Not now.

If anybody finds a release date I for one would be very interested.

Early March based on reports from international internet sources for MSRP $1299

They're also releasing a 25" and 29" version.

This is sure interesting - thanks for the heads up

I need something since I'm going from IMac to nMP.

(Although I wouldn't complain if Apple wants to release something equivalent.)

Dang that looks good. I hope the other companies compete doing things like that. The 29 would look great on my desk.

Now that I'm awake, I wonder if either the 29 or the 34 has the same (or more) vertical size of my 27 inch apple Cinema Display?

It's going to take me awhile to get a feel for the size of these in the ultra wide format.

I personally hate the ultra-wide format, but it's very good looking. Nice to see someone besides apple actually releasing a Thunderbolt monitor!

I hope the 25/29" versions come in 16:9 form factor and preferably 4k resolutions, then we're talking! :)

At first I was "ehh? Who cares?" but now I'm wondering. I presently have 2xTB Cinema and 1X Cinema monitors for a total of (3x2,560)x1,440=7,680x1,440, over twice the horizontal resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 for the LG, which isn't equivalent to two monitors, more like one and a half. Three monitors is perfect, I have a center and two flanking and is just enough to get some real work done while fitting on a desk.

However, the advantage of the big LG monitor is that for playing games. Because OS X can't handle multiple monitors, you'd get 1.5x screen, which isn't nearly as good as triple monitor but still not bad.

same height as a 27" but as wide as a 36" monitor

Lots of nice stuff on it but they make a big deal about the clear stand but it's not adjustable height! Same stupid form-over-function idiocy as the TB Display and iMac. Pay a ton of money for a great piece of gear and you have to sit it on top of books to get it the correct height.

And, to add insult to injury - at least from Apple - the TB Monitor and iMac come with instructions about proper ergonomics and how your chair and keyboard and monitor should be positioned.

Guess you could spend $200 on a vesa mount

They write that is can be connected via TB and that has some USB3&2 ports... but they do not seem to come from the TB controller, do they ? It would be great , though.
