backing up mac with xp on it too.

i have the "older" white macbook which has an XP partition on it too.
i'm meaning to install SL today since i have it sitting next to me. but first i want to backup my entire computer including XP. how do i go about doing this? if the installation messes up my XP partition somehow im screwed since i got XP years ago from my education institution and i can't get another key. so i want to pretty much ghost my entire drive. any software for this?

There are plenty of tools that will get the key out of your windows install.

Err, no, it wouldn't be.

Perhaps you can explain why you think it it would be 'illegal' for anyone to find out what the license key is for software they bought or are entitled to use?
