New Printer on SL Mail.app slow!

We have just bought a new printer at work (HP OfficeJet K8600) and I have found it takes ages to print from Mail.app. If you click 'print' it takes about 10 seconds to do anything then it eventually prints. Something else I have noticed is that the paper size constantly defaults back to A4 Banner and so I have to change the paper size everytime I print. Even after saving a preset and setting the default paper size.

Has any one else had similar problems with printing from Mail in Snow Leopard? All other apps seem quite quick, especially now they are on SL.

Just spoke to HP and they said i need to wait for the drivers to be updated by Apple I told them they had already been updated twice for 10.6 and they didnt know anything about it.

Dont buy a HP k8600 for use on 10.6!!! It's a nightmare.
