Crucial 128G SSD - Unusual Smart Utility Results
Just picked one of these up - dont really need it but i wanted one to try as a boot disc on a few diff macs before deciding where i'd actually use it.
Thing is when i look at the status on Smart Utility - it flags up lot's of different errors and says it has failed. It appears to work properly - have filled it with files and also cloned my MP and iMac boot disks to it. Files copy np and both Macs boot fine. Below is a pic of the SU results If anyone has one of these discs and could download the trial of SU from here; http://www.volitans-software.com/index.php and let me know their results i'd appreciate it. I contacted the author but nothing back yet. Next step is to contact Crucial to see if their discs report SMART info correctly or possibly just RMA the disc. Would appreciate any thoughts/experiences with SMART of other SSD users. Worthwhile noting that Disk Utility and other 'simpler' SMART monitoring s/w says disc is fine - previous experience has told that this can easily be false - so i don't rely on Disk Utility or other SMART s/w Last edited by rtrt : Oct 16, 2009 at 04:50 PM. Just downloaded and gave it a run - I get very similar results to yourself.
Everything seems ok from a usage point however. |

SMART Utility is an application for Mac OS X that checks the internal diagnostics of hard drives.
I repeat, HARD DRIVES. |
