OS X 'reflections' don't work ...

It seems 'reflections' on my Mac are 'broken' ... if that makes any sense.

I mean the reflections seen in various Bowtie & Growl themes.

Normally, they would fade towards the bottom, but mine don't, they are just a mirrored version of the original image.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

(running Snow Leopard 10.6.1)
