Mac App That Allows Remote From Windows to Mac Computer?

I have been searching and cannot find a clear answer on this. At work I am on a Windows computer, and I want to be able to remote into my Mac at home. I turned on the Remote option on my Mac, but when I try to connect from work it says I cannot.

Do I need a specific app Mac side to make this work, perhaps on both ends to make it work? Missing a setting on my Mac? If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

To connect from windows you need to enable VNC from your Sharing preferences, then use the 'Remote Management' service (this will disable the screen sharing service as this takes over all that it does). Click on 'Computer Settings...' to the right and enable 'VNC viewers may....'. Enter a password.

Next you need to have a router, configured with port 5900 facing the internet (http://www.portforward.com/ <-- has all the instructions). You need to head over to dyndns.org, sign up for a free account with your home IP address.

If you did everything correctly, you can open up your VNC client on your windows (google gave me this http://www.tightvnc.com/, free). Enter in your home IP address and it should work.

It's " for inches and ' for feet. Have a nice day

You only need an app on the Windows side. TightVNC Viewer should work to connect into the Mac from your windows PC. You might need to change a few other settings on the Mac side to make it work but I know for a fact that it will.

The problem you were having is that Windows uses RPC with there Remote Desktop application and the Mac runs on VNC and the two don't like to talk to each other.

Logmein.com also works! No need to open up a hole in the firewall and all that fun stuff.
