Anyone who's purchased from the UK HE store very recently - warranty question
I'm sorry to start another one of these threads, but Apple's made it ridiculously difficult to work out anything about the HE warranty and I figured what with the free iPod promotion and a new academic year a fair few people have probably used the HE store recently.
Ok, so my question. It used to be that you essentially got a 3 year warranty when you bought from the UK Higher Education online store. This 3 year warranty wasn't paid for Applecare, it was 1 year of standard warranty plus another 2 years of free parts and labour. Go here http://www.apple.com/uk/education/nationalcontract/ and it says "Special three year parts and labour coverage, with additional first-year warranty and support benefits, as standard" But in the T&Cs it says 1 year warranty. But I also found other T&C's which said 36 months of cover And some posts on this forum say that only certain universities now get the 3 years of cover? But I don't know if there's anywhere that lists what universities get what? Can anyone shed any light? I'm not in the UK right now so I can't phone Apple about it. My parents, who'll be ordering the computer for me, are just confused by the whole thing. And for the last week haven't found the time to ring Apple about it. (they did go ask at the Apple store and got told the 3 HE year warranty had never existed, online or instore which is just wrong) I figured it was worth asking people here what their experiences this academic year have been. Does anyone have 3 years of cover? Did anyone get told how the system's been changed? If by some massive coincidence anyone knows what warranty either Heriot-Watt or Edinburgh university students get then that would be fantastic . . . To be clear: I am not asking about standard Applecare. Thanks
