Droid camera SUCKS... big time

I'm a little disappointed because I wanted a droid, but the camera is really important to me so I don't have to carry one around in addition to the phone.

Here is a gallery of some photos taken with the droid, I don't even need to explain what's wrong with them because some of them are worse than 1 MP camera phones:
http://www.engadget.com/photos/motor...ra-test-shots/

Is there any hope a software update could improve the quality of the Droids photos, or do they never do that type of thing?

some of those pics are really nice for a camera phone. the money shots are the low-light ones though which don't look so great so far

Some of those pics look better than what you'd get on the iPhone you seem to worship so much

I think those pictures look pretty good for a phone. I don't see why you think they are so bad. Maybe you don't like them because the phone is the wrong brand.

if you want a droid get one move on with your life. why spam the forum they tell you that if you convert enough of us that you get it free. This is a Iphone forum 1 or 2 threads ok but get a life. BTW the Droid is not a so called Iphone Killer I promise you even G4 review was not vg. No touch screen serously in this day abnd age. thats gonna be tough for a former iphone user to get used too. any way go play on the droid forums now.

From reading through the posts the OP's started lately (all about the Droid) and the posts he's posted in (all about the Droid), I think the OP thinks the Droid is a better phone and is just posting to irritate. I mean, why post Droid posts in an iPhone forum? Also, the OP doesn't even own an iPhone; he's been on the fence about whether he should get the iPhone or the Droid. So, to say he loves the iPhone might be stretching it. I think he's made up his mind to go to the Droid and just enjoys irritating iPhone users. That's just how it seems to me from reading through his posts. I could be wrong.

+1

If you asked me if those were taken with a phone or like a Coolpix or something, I would never say a phone.

Rofl... you people are a sensitive bunch. I have no preference and a neutral perspective because I'm in a position to pick up either phone and the prices are completely equal.

The pictures are garbage, plain and simple. The colors are washed out, they're not sharp at all, and did you even look at the one with the dog? The review they came from also said it took 4 attempts to get 1 clear close-up of the watch, and that focusing in general was far more of a hassle than it should be in all scenarios.

If you need another example here's one that demonstrates poor focus, horrible color and noise very well:

Droid:

iPhone 3GS:

Fanboy, don't be sad that a non-apple product works better than your 3GS.

WTF are you smoking? No touch screen? It actually has a larger, higher-resolution touch screen than the iPhone as well as portrait & landscape on-screen keyboards.

Clearly you have much better things to do with your time... which is why you bothered posting in this thread, right?

I'd be happy if it worked better than the iPhone because it'd make my decision that much easier... unfortunately the camera is pretty disappointing so far.

I think they look pretty good too.
The iphone camera surely isn't a strong selling point in my eyes. For the most part its adequate but surely not OMG look at that picture.

if Droids camera is disappointing, then the 3GS's camera must be abysmal. the 3gs' camera is definitely not the selling point for the phone. It's pretty much the weakest camera out of all smartphone released since like 2007.

5MP doesn't make a camera good, specially if it has a crappy sensor.

I really don't get why some complain about cameras in phones. They are just a mere accessory to the functions of a mobile phone. Buy a dedicated camera!

Want me to send you some FIVE YEAR OLD camera phone pictures? Just pay me 20 cents a picture to get them off of it. Better than most of the iPhone pics I have seen

Please fan boy stop posting crap that just makes well apple fans look like idiots. You Droid photo does not look even close in quality that the ones of Endgate look like in similar lighting conditions.

The ones on Endgadget that look bad look like the flash was used which means it would be better than the iPhone pictures (no flash)

Also if you are using a Cell phone to replace taking a camera then you have no room to talk about good photographs because cell phone camera are crap compared to a real camera.

I would like to see links from a review site that proves side by side comparison on the cameras until then well it is just fan boys on either side spitting out crap. Thank you for making all apple fans look even dumber
