Having endless net connection issues - any help appreciated

I'm at the end of my tether.

My internet often massively slows down or even drops-off altogether. I also can't get the net in my bedroom (approx 15ft away through one stud partition wall) even though the wifi symbol on my MBP shows full bars. If I'm in my bedroom I just get endless 'loading' in Safari.

Is there an app that shows the exact % and signal quality of wifi?

Does it happen if you are plugged into your network via cable?

The times I've tried it, no. Seems fine.

I really hope you're not suggesting it's my Airport Express. We've been through three in as many years. The current one is 14months old.

Is your airport express near a microwave or cordless phone?

Question: in the time you've had the AirPort Express, have you been applying the firmware updates when they've become available? If you have the same one I do, you should have 7.4.2. I am also in agreement with miles01110 this could be some sort of wireless interference. Take a look over this Apple support article and see if one of the factors it discusses could be causing issues.
