I hate what the internets have become. Can we start over? Will you help me?
I'm branching off from the thread "Ads are killing the internet!!!!" in an attempt to revolutionize the way we surf.

You're not as smart as you think you are. You haven't got a clue what the Internet actually comprises or how HTTP/S relates to it. Yet, somehow you've correlated Internet activity to debt. And your language is a bit over the top.

![]() Here comes the guy who spits out meaningless "smart talk" for no reason. HTTP and HTTPS have nothing to do with the OP's points. Why would you call him out for not knowing them? |

Well he's right. Logistically, if we created an all new infrastructure (next to impossible to get it widespread) we could ditch HTTP.

So by virtue of this new protocol, ads would be stopped and no spam would occur? That makes no sense, unless we all go back to using Lynx so you can't see images. Also email is delivered over SMTP, not HTTP, so it wouldn't stop that either.

Ads are easier to block than half-wits.

if you dont like what the internet has become, turn your computer off, unplug your router and take a axe to it, then find something more fulfilling to spend your time doing

I'm looking for brilliant thinkers. Positive people with a can-do attitude.
There is no point of your existence in this discussion if you're the type that say "Noo Internets? We don't want any!". I'm doing this. And it's going to be huge. No one is stopping me.

but I can't see it happening. The internet is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Too many people are making vast amounts of money from it, to let another 'Internet' take over. |

If you ask me, you seem to be fed up more with a specific concept of life whose dominance you lament, and less with the current state of the internet. I'm completely with you there, but it's not exactly a brand-new complaint…
(Your rant rephrased and repackaged into a summarized list: )

Well yeah, the Internet has become kind of gross. Since everyone has a voice, everyone gets to influence it's evolution and the semi-anonymity brings out the worst in people.
Internet2 is kind of like what you're describing a need for... a high-speed Internet reserved solely for government, medical, and academic use. Perhaps Internet3 would be the ticket? No ads, no trojans, just wisdom at $.50 an hour for access?

Wanna block ads? Install ad blocker software. Don't like Kanye West? Don't watch videos of him.
How exactly do you expect ISPs to control ads on independent sites too? If I put Google ads on my site, will I start getting e-mails from ISPs telling me to take them down for certain IPs?
