hey Unix admin gurus: Bare Bones User Account

Hey Unix admin gurus, I'm wondering if it would be possible to create a bare bones user account that would start up the absolute minimum of services and processes. exempli gratia: I'd like to create a user for all my soft-synths; that is, an account for only music production and nothing else, so that when I want to play I just log out and log in to my music account, effectively turning it into an electronic instrument. In my mind, it would only activate the display and audio related frameworks and processes, and no networking or printing or whatever else that isn't necessary (accessing external drives might or might not be necessary, if there appears to be a benefit to holding samples on this drive.) Is this even possible?
