Lost airport password... reset not working

I forgot my password after not needing it for quite some time. I tried to do a reset by pressing the button and then making a new password but I keep getting error messages after verifying the new passwords. The error message was something that airport could not be configured.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Have you looked into Keychain Access if you can recover your password from there?

It wasn't there.

All of a sudden this thing stopped working and I know I'm entering the correct password because I ended up finding where I wrote it down. I tried again to reset and enter new passwords but I keep getting some cannot be configured error.

Unplug it and give it a minute. That will reset to new and you can start all over.
