OS X 10.6.2 Video conversion problem

First of all, I don't know when it started or why but this is my problem and I can't find any solution.

I frequently get some movies and convert then with VideoMonkey to an mp4 so that I can add them in iTunes and play them on my iPhone. Until 3 weeks ago everything went well.

When I wanted to convert a new movie VideoMonkey gave me a fast error. There was a problem with the conversion. The console said:

Code:
    [Command 0] Command to execute:
    [Command 0]     ffmpeg -y -i "/Users/michael/Downloads/MOVIE.avi" -vcodec libx264 -b 964866 -s 624x352 -aspect 624:352 -r 23.976 -async 50 -acodec libfaac -ab 128000 -ar 48000 -ac 2 -vpre hq-pass1 -pass 1 -passlogfile "/tmp/0x2d5020-tmppass.log" -bf 0 -coder 0 -flags2 -wpred-dct8x8 "/Users/michael/Downloads/MOVIE.avi.mp4"
    [Command 0] --> /bin/sh: -c: line 0: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''
    [Command 0] --> /bin/sh: -c: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file
I never had the error before and I did this about 50 times. Thus my first though was that the file was corrupt. Got a new version which still didn't work. I then tried HandBrake an other alternative. It looked good until... HandBrake shut down without any reason... I've tried with other files afterwards. Same deal, errors everywhere...

So I'm starting to think there is something wrong somewhere else. I've reinstalled VideoMoney after cleaning it out with AppCleaner. No good at all, same trouble.

A Program I run frequently but just to do a clean job is Onyx (if it may be of any help). I've also installed VLC media player. iMovie does not want to import the file to...

Any guess?
