ubuntu via bootcamp? Help!
I just tried installing ubuntu via bootcamp. I went through the whole installation process then it asked me to restart. Black Screen for 5min.
Manually restarted and my system would only start to another black screen that said GRUB, with no other options. I took the hdd out that i installed ubuntu on and i would get the same problem did this somehow change my bios/mac equivalent Finally was able to get into osx by holding down left mouse button on startup (nothing else would work) |

If you want to install Linux on top of OS x and Windows it needs a dedicated partition between the OS X and the Windows partition. The Windows partition always needs to be the lowest partition in your system.
You also need to know that Linux installs its own boot loader Grub which - as you have noted - isn't compatible with the Windows boot loader. There are procedures to properly install a triple boot with OS X, Linux and Windows. You need to Google that and follow it. I remember it used rEFIt as a GUI for the boot loader. http://www.google.com/search?hl=de&c...e&lr=&aq=f&oq= http://refit.sourceforge.net/tripleboot/

is there anyway to fix the windows installer? Whenever i try to load windows bootcamp i goes to the grub screen. When I tried installing linux it was on another hdd( reformatted since then) than what win7 is on, which makes me believe the installer wrote to something other than the disk. |
