Mac OS X Snow Leopard freezes games?

I know the Macintosh isn't really a "gaming" computer but, I was wondering if anyone noticed some of the higher graphic games freezing sometimes in Snow Leopard. I have 2 games that freeze sometimes. What I mean is, it stops and the sounds skips in one loop, Apple Command + Option + Esc doesn't force quit the program so I have to hold down the power button to turn off the computer. So I'm guessing the whole computer freezes.

I don't remember this really happening at all in Leopard. It isn't a huge deal I guess, it doesn't happen a lot. It happened more on my HP running Windows XP. By the way, I switch to the 512 MB card to play both of these games.

Doom 3 and Tomb Raider Anniversary.
