Snow Leopard/Quicktime X question... how to get rid of the top bars on full screen mo

the previous version of QT i had, you would go into full screen (command + F) mode and the move playing was all you could see. now, i have this annoying ass status bar up top.
granted, it doesn't do this when i'm viewing on my MBP, but when i connect it to my LCD tv. annoying nonetheless. how do i get it to go away? none of the 'view' options seemed to change it.

no one using leopard/quicktime X plugs their laptop into their TV? really?
