Function key shortcuts on apple aluminum wireless keyboard not working

Hey all,

I recently got a aluminum wireless keyboard -- love love love it. But for some reason the "special features" on each function key (i.e. exposé on F3, dashboard on F4, etc.) don't seem to work. I've tried with and without function, turning "Use all function keys as standard function keys" in system preferences on and off, but nothing seems to do the trick. Known issue or wonky bug?

(Oh yeah: using a 2007 20" imac, 10.6.0)
