the ability to run DD-WRT alone justifies the linksys

As far as ease of integration the Apple router will obviously be "better", but the Linksys isn't that hard to set up and has more features.

having both they both have advantages an disadvantages.

The usb interface and guest network is a big plus for the apple.

I prefer the linksys interface/settings and the price point.

Performance I haven't notced any difference.

Make sure you look on the web for the best pricing. Newegg wa $38 cheaper than best buy for my linksys.

BOTH
I use a linksys with Tomato firmware as my router for MLPPP and have an Apple Time machine and use it for 802.11n and backups.
Also threw and Airport Express for wireless printing and scanning.

My new iMac i5 is setup with NO wires, just the power cable.

I love my (really old, UFO shaped) Airport Base Station. Monumentally easy to setup with Macs.

One of these days i'll upgrade (for the wireless HD capability and 802.11n), my original has been chugging along for about 5 years straight so far.
