Strange Snow Leopard Issue--Dragging and Dropping Files

Ever since I got Snow Leopard I've had this strange issue that worked fine in Leopard yet no one else seems to have seen as I've searched around online for a while now. If anyone has ever seen this issue or knows how to fix it I'd love to hear from you. Basically, whenever I download a song or Word doc, anything at all, I have iTunes or Word open in Space 2 and am working in the finder in Space 1. I also have one of my hot corners open to Expose. What I would always do is to drag the file to that hot corner then hover over Space 2, press enter then release into iTunes. This always worked just fine. Then I installed SL and all of a sudden, even though it works--the file gets added to iTunes or opened in Word, it suddenly launches any random application from my dock. It's very strange, I don't click anything on the dock or draganddrop to the dock. Any ideas?
