playing different sounds on different audio channels at the same time.
Is there a way to do that in snow leopard? I'm trying to get sound from a game, lets say, from my built in speakers, and quicktime movie sound from the tv that my mbp is plugged into (from the headphone jack basically) is there a way to do it at the same time?

That depends. Some applications allow you to choose an output device, while others will only work with the default system output. If the game doesn't allow you to change outputs, VLC and Plex both do.
