Mac Mail making too many attempts, locks my IP out of server

I could swear there was an earlier thread about this, but haven’t been able to find it...sorry if this is a repeat.

I have three businesses, each that has several email accounts...plus my personal email accounts (another four or five). They’re all loaded into Mac Mail, which is the only way I want to work. Need the ability to drag and drop, save documents, see entire threads, sort into folders, etc.

Sadly, Mail continually ping-ping-pings away at the servers, even when not actively checking mail. The massive number of repeated connection attempts keeps throwing me off the server, blocking my IP.

The host’s only solution is to use webmail, which simply won’t meet the needs of my work flow.

Total number of email accounts: 23. Need ‘em all.

Any ideas how to resolve this? The host has “dialed up” the max number of allowable attempts as high as they’re willing to go, but I’m still getting kicked off and blocked.

Help!

Thanks in advance....
