Symbols
Hi All.
New to the forums and excuse the stupid question but can someone tell me what the pencil symbol with a line through it is which appears on my external hard drive panel on the desk top. I assume it has something to do with being a read only drive but how do i change that to read and write? thanks alot |

Not a stupid question. I'm learning along with you here. Maybe someone who's more certain will chime in after this gets bumped up. But, highlight the drive's icon, then hit Cmd-I for the Get Info window. Look at the Sharing and Permissions area. Can you change it to Read/Write there?

This could be a case of Finder being confused. If the Get Info fix suggested doesn't help, try relaunching the Finder from the Force Quit dialog. You can bring it up from the Apple menu.

Is it an NTFS drive, from a Windows PC? - that will be read-only with "vanilla" OSX.
