Connecting Macbook to HDTV for DVD Viewing

I have been trying to find out what cables I need in order to connect my Macbook with my HDTV so I can watch DVDs and video streams. Can anyone help please? It's a new TV with lots of connections but I don't know exactly what all the connections are besides the HDMI stuff. Thanks!

Depends on the type of Macbook you have. If it's one of the older Macbooks then you need a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable for video, then a Line-out stereo cable for audio.

If it's a very new Macbook then you need the Mini-Display to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable.

You can also use optical audio out to your receiver.

Note that if you buy an adapter, most of them will not push sound across the HDMI connection, just video. If you want sound & video, Kanex offers some solutions. Choose between USB Audio and digital optical audio.
