MySQL not starting through System Preferences

I previously had MySQL running the 32 bit version on my computer, but have recently upgraded to the 64 bit version.

I had to make a shell script to get it to run, and it DOES in fact turn off and on and I can create database tables with it, yet when I go back to my System Preferences under "Other" the MySQL icon that is there, that provides easy access to turning off and off MySQL, does not allow me to turn it off or on.

As a matter of fact, I click it and the loading cursor keeps revolving infinitely it seems. It still says in the title bar MySQL (32-bit), which is wrong since I have deleted the 32 bit version and installed the 64 bit.

I'm not reverting to ever using a 32 bit MySQL client when my computer supports the 64 bit version, although the only problem I'm having is easily turning the newly installed 64 bit version from the System Preferences gui.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.
