Convincing parents for an iPod Classic

Hi. I am 14 and play/listen to music most of the day. Music is my main interest/talent. I currently have 65 GB in my music library and have a 1 GB iPod shuffle G2 and I can't stand it!!!! I hate not having playlists and having to sync my iPod all of the time to access the other 64 GB. I badly want to get an iPod Classic so I don't have to sync all the time and can have video and especially playlists as well as a huge battery life. But my parents don't want me to get one because they're a "waste of money." and that I could just get a Nano. I don't want a nano because they're too small of a screen and i hate how small they are. Please give me convincing advice!!

You could offer to do some extra chores for your parents or neighbours to earn extra money to save up for all or some of the cost of the iPod Classic.

A Nano is a nice iPod, anyway, and if it gets lost or stolen, you're not losing a hugely expensive item.

from what ive seen you can get an 80GB ipod for around 100. I mowed a few lawns for about a month and got over 200 bucks. Rake leaves and stuff like that elderly people are usually willing to pay a neighborhood kid rather than a pricey lawn service.

I was sort of like "oh to be 14 again" then realised I never really had this problem because I always had some sort of job. Find a paper round or something and start saving. Parents can't tell you what to do with your own money

Have you considered saving up for a refurbished iPod classic from the on-line Apple Store? My iPod came from there at a lower price. It's not the newest, but works great! You can also subscribe via widget to receive a customized refurbished store list (daily e-mail) to see current prices and availability.

Cool! What color did you get? I have an 80GB Classic in silver and I still really like it even though I have a Touch. The Touch won't hold all of my library so I have to sort of pick and choose. I just dump everything onto my Classic. Good choice if you have lots of music and like to carry all of it with you.

Did you get your iPod classic from your parents? If so, I guess it was a case of "we bought it already, so tried to convince you you didn't need it, so it would be a greater surprise" .

Ah, to be 14. Life seems so much simpler then.
