OSStatus error from WD NAS time machine

Ok so finally managed to sort out many of the back up problems I have been having - in no small part to the excellent Disk Warrior - really have to say I am very impressed.

Anyway

MY WD worldbook is connected via gigabit ethernet to the uMBP - I try to set up as a time machine - it is seen, but when I enter details I get the following message:

The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 2.

Any thought on how to solve this?

Anybody got their WD world book to work with time machine?
It recognises the thing but just says OSStatus error 2
