I have just started using Audirvana Plus and it is fantastic. I set it to integrate with iTunes and it works beautifully so far. I use the ipad remote app for iTunes and haven't had any issues with that

WinAmp the most popular music player on windows OS, now it's available on Mac OS X, although it's still in beta version,

I like spotify - it's a great way of having your music playlists on all devices that spotify support. It costs as much as paying for 1 CD a month to have it so I find this no extra cost at all. I have it on my mac, ipad and iphone.

If you're looking for a very basic player (the kind I like), there is also:
- Cog
- Vox

My favorite of all was something called "QTAmatuer". Unfortunately, it was PowerPC only and died along with Rosetta...
