Apple Product Release Theory
It's interesting, 2013 seems to be Apple's year for software.
For example: 2010 - Major Hardware: iPad, iPhone 4 - Minor Software: Snow Leopard 2011 - Minor Hardware: iPhone 4S, iPad 2 - Major Software: OS X Lion, iOS 5, iCloud 2012 - Major Hardware: iPhone 5, iPad Mini, Macbook Pro with Retina - Minor Software: iOS 6, OS X Mountain Lion 2013 - Minor Hardware: iPhone 5S, iPad 5th Generation - Major Software: iOS 7, OS X 10.9 2014 - Major Hardware: The next iPhone, iPad 6, Apple TV - Minor Software: iOS 8, OS X 11 The thing that interests me is OS X 11 is bound to be big. But they have to have a significant update in OS X 10.9 because Mountain Lion was only minor. Let me know your thoughts. Do you agree/disagree with my theory? |

good catch. but its hard to imagine they'd release ios 7 this year. if i remember correctly, ios 6 came out in oct? or sept?? i dont think it'll happen this soon... could be wrong though, but only time will tell. i'd love to see ios7 this year. hopefully they'll open up the OS more...

Apple barely makes any money off software
If that pattern was true, Apple's revenue would dip every other year

Mac OS X 11 = IOS.. Thats Apple's direction.. its to streamline OS X and make it all like IOS.

This year could be hardware and software updates. Everyone's expecting an iWatch and a revamped Mac Pro as well as the rumors for haswell and 802.11 ac refreshes.
Then with Ive in charge everyone is expecting software / ui refreshes. Who knows hopefully we get it all. I personally would like a real iPod refresh. More memory, ssd, USB 3 would make a tremendous difference. |
