Your seriously comparing the Apple Store (with the small amount of different products they sell) to the likes of Amazon, Walmart, eBay and Target??? Walmart alone has over 100,000 SKU's. Don't be silly. If Apple really thought having an iPad optimized app was important they would have made one. As it stands, the iPhone version works just fine.
