Brand new iPhone 5. Touch issues?

My iPhone is just a couple of days old, not even a week actually.
I am noticing that some sliders or some buttons don't respond to touch very well. I keep pressing them but occasionally I have to keep pressing them once or twice for them to work.
Looks more like a softwarish thing to me. One example is the data ON OFF in the settings. A click there doesn't really click very well the first time. Also this is observed mostly on the edges.

Is this normal to all. Or something to be shown to the store. But all this I have been able to type with great speed, no issues with that.

Any comments will be appreciated.

I went through five replacement units. One or two fo them had touch issues similar to yours. On my fifth, the touch is about the same as my iphone 4.
The iphone 5 quality control isn't very good, industry average at best.
And getting a lemon, especially with the new in-cell touchscreen tech, is a distinct possibility. I would return it. If they give you grief, just return it and buy another one.

My 5 is like this too especially in settings. I found that when the slides don't respond I have to give the slide a hard tap first and then it slides and works.

Yes this is more in the settings, I agree too.

I am planning to walk in the store over the weekend and. Try out those demo units, because I expect them to be abused a lot in handling. If they perform well with the touches then I might just show it to the store guy and talk about a replacement.

I still fill that this is softwarish since my keyboard typing is at a phenomenal speed.

I noticed touch issues with my launch issued phone, the replacement phone I received a few weeks ago is fine.

I've noticed this when trying to turn wifi on/off. I just assumed it was an iOS 6 issue.

So I went to the apple store this weekend. And I saw other display pieces. It were the same and behaved the same way requiring you to do it more than once to swipe the button. When.i spoke to the specialist he says that when swiping if the screen scrolls up or down the button action won't be recognized. So the swipe has to happen with the screen not scrolling at all, even slightly. For best results he said a tap is sufficient and it slides the button as required.
I was okay with this since most of the models also behaved the same way.

Happened to me once, went away after a couple seconds. It was also very cold out so that could have been it.
