HBO Go and Showtime streaming to Apple TV?

Just wondering if you can Stream HBO go and Showtime on the go from an Ipad to Apple tv? When I watch either app it gives me the option to send it to the Apple TV but ONLY audio comes out no video... Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? Thanks!!!

it's the way the app is written.

the developer can dictate how airplay works.

that's why some apps will let you airplay video, and others won't
