That's why you should use redsn0w to get the shsh for your iphone 5.

Uhm i just previously i used redsn0w and it specifically asks you to go to DFU mode to get the blobs. in fact it shows a screen of instructions to go to that mode before getting you can get the blobs.

Edit: disreguard, updated to latest redsn0w and all is well

Glad you got it to work. I was going to ask what version of Redsn0w you were using.
