About to get the new Mac Mini (cheap one), but what monitor should I get?

I have the U2412. I just think it is the correct aspect ratio and size for me. I am so happy with it I plan on picking up another for a dual setup. It doesn't have HDMI but it does have DP/MDP and DVI.

In my experience HDMI isn't the best for text on a screen, if you use it for word processing, etc.

I've got the HP 2311xi, and it has both HDMI and DVI. I'm using the DVI connection, and the picture is flawless. The 23" is a pretty good size, and the anti-glare coating on it isn't sparkly. Pretty reasonably priced, too. I think I got it for $170 or so at Best Buy.

HDMI is pretty much single-link DVI-D with audio.

No circuitry required and both are uncompressed digital transmissions. Either your screen has bad HDMI inputs, you've used a cheap/too long HDMI cable or there is something wrong with your settings.

You might be onto something. I just googled a bit and it might have something to do with my overscan settings. I'm going to tinker a bit.

I am considering that that same monitor. Loved how it looked at a tigerdirect display but can get a better deal thru amazon. Only thing stopping me is I may want a monitor with internal speakers. I have given thought to a thunderbolt. It gives the best display, can be used with future Mini's plus you get more USB ports. It's a remote thought.

I thought about having the speakers integrated but figured that they are probably not going to sound that great and in the end I am going to have a PC speaker + subwoofer set connected to the computer anyway so the small monitor speakers will not be used anyway. Out of five stars on tigerdirect.com the Asus monitors got a steady 4.6-5 from reviews so I think I am going to be happy with it. There were some ACER 23" S230HL monitors at Target for $159 that I was thinking of picking up. But figured I would checkout online to see what else was available for about the same price.

Just for me, if I don't have a monitor at least as good and as nice looking looking as the ATD I would be cheating myself.
