I may give 4.2 firmware a go as it sounds promising
I'm on 4.0 right now.Synology does not come with harddrive, yes, but at least you can choose what you require. It's not cheap alltogether, but good piece of tech was never cheap! |

Just a heads up.
4.2 beta may have a bug with Time Machine backups. It may say corrupt backup, delete the old backup and start again. Did it once for me and a few users on the Synology forum. Try 4.1 first. Synology's pretty fast with updates and I'm sure 4.2 will be out of beta in a month or so. OP, the local vendor has a DS213+ @ $425 available. Must resist temptation , there's absolutely nothing wrong with my DS212j

Where can I get the DS213+ for that price as I will even let you come an play with it but, before I do, how old is the model and is it due to be replaced? Thanks, Joel |

Just PMed you.
The DS213 = 2 bay, 2013. It's new. The 214 will probably be out this fall. For a single user the 213+ is overkill and aside from speed (it's a dual core PPC) the 213j will do everything the 213+ does. |
