I've never taken apart a MBA, but I'd venture to guess that it may not be possible. I'm not sure if there is room behind the keyboard to fit the lighting structure. But I could very well be wrong about that.
It would have a greater chance of being impossible due to missing logic board connectors. The space is trivial.
Ah, a good point. This never even occurred to me. It would definitely be a bigger issue than the space.
